Goa's beaches aren't just for lying around — the water sports scene here is the biggest in India. But prices vary wildly and safety varies more. Here's the guide we wish every traveller read first.
The big five — and what they should cost
- Parasailing (₹800–₹1,500): 5–8 minutes flying over the sea. Best at Baga/Calangute. Go dry (land on boat) or wet (dip in sea) — ask before boarding.
- Jet ski (₹500–₹900 for 10 min): simplest thrill. Ride solo after a lap with the operator.
- Banana boat (₹300–₹500 per person): six people, one inflated banana, guaranteed capsizing and laughing. Great for groups.
- Scuba diving (₹3,500–₹5,000): the most memorable by far — read our complete scuba guide.
- Sunset cruise (₹500–₹1,200): live music, dolphin sightings, Mandovi river views. The calm option for families.
Which beaches for what
Baga & Calangute: everything, always crowded. Anjuna/Vagator: parasailing with cliff views. Palolem: kayaking and dolphin trips, quieter water. Grande Island (from Vasco): the scuba + snorkelling hub.
Safety — non-negotiables
- Life jacket on, always — no matter how good a swimmer you are
- Check the equipment looks maintained (straps, buckles, inflation)
- Operators certified by Goa Watersports Authority display licences — look for it
- Morning slots = calmer water + fairer prices
The smart way to book
Combo packages (scuba + parasailing + banana boat) cost 30–40% less than booking activities separately — see our Goa activities with transparent pricing, bookable online with partial payment.
