Udaipur Weekend Itinerary: 2 Days of Lakes, Palaces & Rooftop Cafés

Udaipur rewards slow travellers — but a smart 2-day plan covers almost everything worth seeing. Here's the exact itinerary we recommend.

Day 1 — Old city, lake & sunset

9:00 AM — City Palace. Go early, beat the crowds. 2–3 hours inside; don't miss the Mor Chowk peacock mosaics.

12:30 PM — Jagdish Temple (5-min walk) then lunch at a rooftop overlooking Lake Pichola.

4:00 PM — Lake Pichola boat ride. Sunlight on the palaces is unreal from the water. Includes a stop at Jag Mandir.

7:00 PM — Sunset at Ambrai Ghat, then dinner in the old city lanes.

Day 2 — Forts, fountains & views

9:00 AM — Sajjangarh (Monsoon Palace). The classic Udaipur panorama — go before 10 AM for clear views.

12:00 PM — Saheliyon Ki Bari gardens, then lunch near Fatehsagar.

4:00 PM — Bahubali Hills sunset (30-min drive) — the view everyone's posting in 2026, and it's free.

8:00 PM — Rooftop dinner near Lal Ghat with the City Palace lit up across the water.

What to skip

  • Bagore Ki Haveli museum (the evening dance show is worth it; the museum, not so much)
  • Premier boat tickets — the standard ride covers the same water
  • Renting a car — old-city lanes are chaos; autos are ₹50–₹150 anywhere

Where to stay

Stay within walking distance of Lake Pichola — everything in this itinerary is 10 minutes away. Compare handpicked Udaipur hotels, from ₹1,500 heritage guesthouses to lake-view luxury.

Quick budget (per day, per person)

  • Stay: ₹1,500–₹4,000 (double room ÷ 2)
  • Food: ₹600–₹1,000
  • Entry + boat + local travel: ₹700–₹1,200

Short on time? Our Udaipur tour packages bundle the hotels, transfers and the Monsoon Palace trip into one booking.
